I’m reading a lot of blogs every day and I have subscribed to more than 60 feeds yet. In my experience there are two different types of bloggers: Evil and Good bloggers. In this article I will explain the difference between these two blogger types and make some examples of good blogs and evil blogs. I will also explain why I consider some of the bloggers mentioned in the examples evil, while I consider others good. Don’t feel offended if you are on my list and I don’t like your blog…it’s just my opinion.
What is the difference between these two kinds of bloggers?
Good Bloggers
- Good bloggers usually write about a topic they are interested in and they have fun by doing so.
- They will answer a question posted in a comment
- They try to help you if you ask them
- They will always answer your email messages
- They leave a comment on your blog because they read an article and found it interesting
- They are kind to other bloggers
By analysing the whole list of blogs I read every day, I can say that the content quality of a Good blogger is much higher than the content quality of an Evil blogger. Most of the blogs I read are related to this topics: SEO, make money online, search engines, web design and so on… and it really looks like that the topic of a blog has much to do with the blogger behind it.
You will find the most evil bloggers in the “make money online” category while SEO blogs are usually owned by good bloggers. This is the major reason why the content of a Good blogger is better, because “make money online” blogs usually have poor content.
Evil Bloggers
- Evil bloggers write articles because they are statistic maniacs and want to reach as many readers as possible
- I don’t think they have fun blogging
- They don’t answer comments
- They don’t answer email messages
- They comment on your blog only to get on your “Top commentators” list and get a backlink to their own site (my comments have increased a lot since I added that widget in the sidebar)
- They don’t care about their readers
- They answer comments only if you write something negative about them
Let’s make some examples.
John Chow vs Ades Blog
Both of them where offering a “review me and I link to you” service. I decided to review John Chow and also Ades Blog. After only 2 days I received a kind email from Ades saying that he was going to add a backlink to my blog on his PR7 blog and within 1 week I got it.
This did not happen for John Chow. I wrote him that I had reviewed his blog and he did not answer my email. Everytime he was publishing a Batch linking to all the people that reviewed him, I left a comment asking him what he was thinking about my review…he never answered even one of those comments and never published my link on his Blog. I actually think that he got angry because of some of my articles ” Porn site receives traffic boost thanks to JohnChow.com “, ” and “ John Chow displaying penis enlargement on main page ” i wrote for my “Internet Gossip” category. Actually I was sending him even 20-30 visitors each day (even bad publicity is publicity
)
John Chow = Evil
Ades = Good
At the beginning of this article I stated that the content of good bloggers is usually better than the content of bad bloggers. In this case it is absolutely true. Jonh Chow’s articles are quite useless and his readers are increasing only because he succeeded in making a lot of money out of his blog. People are money driven and think that they can have the same results with their own blog by reading JohnChow.com. Most of them don’t even see the low quality of John Chows blog and consider him something like a marketing guru. On the other hand Ades is delivering very interesting articles about various topics and it looks like he has a lot of fun by doing so.
Let’s analyse some other blogs:
Kumiko = Evil
Another one of those “make money online” bloggers. Kumiko is actually one of the worse bloggers I came across. Her blog is updated 2-3 times a week and most of the content is worthless.
have a look on her recent articles:
10 signs that you are a lazy blogger
Never see “0 comments” on your site again”…Guaranteed!. After reading this article I had to unsubscribe from Kumiko’s blog because I realized that I was wasting my time on a blog with poor content and with a blogger that is writing her own comments…
Another reason I consider Kumiko an evil blogger is because a comment she left in a very serious article of mine with the title ” Disgusting people make money online thanks to the kidnapped Madeleine Mccann “.
This article is about evil webmasters that registered similar domains to ” findmadeleine.com ” and parked them to make money with advertisements.
Have a look at the comment she left:
Regarding madeleine.biz, the parking page is the automatic page used by GoDaddy after a domain is registered and Mr Mitchell may not even know it is there. For all we know, he may be using the domain to set up another site to help find her. Did you contact him to find out how he plans to use the domain? He may using it for good!
Yes, GoDaddy will make money from the domain, but they probably don’t even know their parking page is there either. It’s unreasonable to expect them to monitor every domain that is registered.
And as I wrote to you personally, you may want to seriously consider removing the Adsense from this article. You’re donating all the proceeds from it, right?
She left this comment after I wrote her an email saying that I was not a programmer and that I did not know how to remove the Adsense block from only one post because it was inside my template. Even after asking on Digitalpoint I did not manage to remove that Adsense block. I also told her that it was really strange that the owners of these domains did not manage to make a website in a whole month. She did not answer this comment…maybe because she understood that I was right and that these webmasters were really evil.
After a few days I left this comment:
a quick update here:
I contacted the registrars some days ago and none of them removed the advertising from the domains.
None of them answered my emails.
When I wrote this post asking for help, I also contacted other bloggers asking to write about this topic and to help me to find all this disgusting websites and to get them banned.
Most of the bloggers I contacted were “money online bloggers” (I’m not going to tell you the names) that have a big audience…
Even they did not get back to me…they are only thinking about how to make a few bucks out of their blogs full of useless content instead of doing something for the internet community.
Maybe their were also thinking “why did I not have the idea to register these domains!Damn! I could have made some extra cash by registering those domains!”
Shame on you, bloggers.
She was on of those bloggers thinking “why did I not have the idea to register these domains!Damn! I could have made some extra cash by registering those domains!”
Bob = Good
Bob runs a blog called ” bobmeetsworld.com “. He is delivering a lot of fresh content every single day and at the same time he answers comments and emails. From his articles you can see that he has quite a good knowledge about a lot of topics and that he wants to help other internet users. Bob was also one of the few bloggers that linked to the article about Madeleine Mccann and I really appreciate that.
Different people, different opinions
Maybe Kumiko and John Chow are nice bloggers…in my opinion their not. Anyway their blog content can’t be compared to the one of the two “Good Bloggers” i’ve mentioned above, even if they are considered good by some other people.
Probably I’m going to write soon about some other bloggers I have dealed with.
The next one could be you ![]()

Interesting article if I may say so
although I agree with your assessment of good=bad I’m not sure I would agree with all you on comparing different blogs. I’m not here to dfend anyone but I did find some quite useful content on at least one of the blogs you marked as bad, but I guess we all look or different things and “one man’s garbage is another man treasure”
All in all I like your writing style.
That’s why I say that everybody has it’s on opinion
I think that most SEO’s won’t find any useful information on John Chow’s blog while people that look for “how to fool people and make money out of it” will definetly subscribe to his blog.
I just hope I’m not in one of your bad bloggers list ;). Trying to help other bloggers too but probably not much help given as most of the time I’m just sharing my thoughts and views. Most people would probably like to look at tips and how to’s. But hopefully people like me of what I am
I’m flattered, going to check out Ades blog now
Thanks again!
No need to thank me Bob, your blog is awesome
[…] over at Linkrain wrote a post about Good vs Evil Bloggers. I think he did an excellent job categorizing what he considers good blogs and evil blogs. […]
Nice article, What do you think I am Good Or Evil ?
I have to deal with you first and read your blog for at least one month to see how you are treating your readers. Maybe I’m going to do this
This is the best article I’ve read in quite some time. I think it’s funny that people are asking you whether you think they’re good or evil. If you have to ask….
I’m glad that there are still some good bloggers out there. Darren Rowse and Steve Pavlina are two of my favorites and really seem to create material that helps people.
I like Darren Rowse’s blog too. His delivering quality content to his readers, not pictures of a dinner like John Chow does…
Interesting article, and the comments are interesting too. It’s pretty obvious that most blogs are started by people with little idea what is involved. And there are lots of different motivations for starting a blog. Lots of unrealistic expectations too.
I agree with you rickh. Anyway I think that most people start a blog to make money out of it…and 99% don’t succeed.
100% agree, blogging for fun
How do I tell if I’m good or evil???
I think one of the criteria should be whether or not a blogger repeats the same content over and over. I would have thought that blogs just about making money online have a limited life span. They are really a dime a dozen, you only need to find one that’s decent and then there’s no real point checking in on others.
There are opinions and then there is liable and slander, you have to be careful not to get sued should you make remarks about other people. I’d be very wary of classifying anyone as evil in such a public place, they might take offence. Of course, I am a “good” blogger, even if I did suggest you buy me a beer to fix up your RSS icon
Dave
Even if they take offence, I’m just saying my own opinion
