Yesterday some big stumblers (with lot’s of friends in their networks) stumbled upon 3 of my articles:

- Make 9.000$/month with Wordpress themes

- List of over 500 Free Directories

- 8 Tips about how to build a Quality Blog

StumbleUpon helps you discover and share great websites. As you click “Stumble!”, we deliver high-quality pages matched to your personal preferences. These pages have been explicitly recommended by your friends or one of 2,398,217 other websurfers with interests similar to you. Rating these sites you like automatically shares them with like-minded people – and helps you discover great sites your friends recommend.

After the 3 articles I mentioned above were stumbled, I recieved hundreds of new visitors. Within 14 hours my blog got 462 “thumbs up”, that means that 462 people clicked on the “I like it!” button in their toolbar to let other Stumbleupon users know about the quality of my blog.

Linkrain Articles got the first position on StumbleUpon BUZZ (Buzz is a feature that displays new and popular pages in your chosen topics) for the category “Blogs”. No other blog had this success on the Stumbleupon BUZZ in such a short time .

Today I checked the blog category to see how many other people stumbled it today and…my blog had been removed.

StumbleUpon uses ratings to form collaborative opinions on website quality. When you stumble, you will only see pages which friends and like-minded stumblers have recommended. This helps you discover great content you probably wouldn’t find using a search engine.

This is how it should work. So why delete a blog that was considered so interesting that it got 462 stumbles in 14 hours??

I wrote them an email and got an immediate answer:

Hello,

The url you refer to is very definitely in our
databases, and apparently proving popular with our
members.

Buzz changes frequently, and is populated with
*new* content.

Regards,

Barry Conway

If Buzz changes frequently, why was my blog the only one that stayed there for not even a day and the other blogs (with less stumbles) are there since 1 week?

I wrote another email do Barry Conway, I will let you know as soon as he get’s back to me.

I find stumble upon somewhat interesting. I have noticed that I may get 3 or for ’stumbles’ from the same IP Address.

It maybe worth a further examination to see just how the “buzz” works

By te way, nice idea to add a Stumbleupon link as “Commentator URL”, never thought about this ;)

What would their motivation be to deliberately remove your blog, though? Just curious…
