People are going crazy to get some .EDU backlinks because websites ending in .EDU are considered trusted sites by Google. Only because they are trusted, webmasters think that a link from an .EDU page with PageRank is more valuable than a link from another page with the same PageRank. I recently wrote an article about the Myth of .EDU domains.
Anyway there are different ways to get a link to your site from an .EDU website
1) By designing (or sponsoring) a theme for a blogging engine like Wordpress and by hoping that an .EDU page will use it (this happens sometimes)
2) Sometimes on Digitalpoint, in the link sale section there are webmasters that own an .EDU page and they are selling some links on it for a montlhy fee (they are really expensive) or permanent blog posts for 15-30$ each.
3) Finally there is a “dirty way” to get some .EDU backlinks. Many .EDU websites are not updated anymore or the owner forgot about it and many of them have a blog where you can leave comments to the posts they ‘ve made in the past. On average 1 blog out of 50 has NO “no-follow” tag for the links in the comments! I’ve never used this technique but I know it’s working if you want some .EDU backlinks.
Recently I have found a page where it is possible to get your own .EDU page for a small monthly “donation” of 25$. the owner is making good revenue by “renting” blogs on his .EDU page and people that rent one of these blogs usually use it to link to their own site and to sell blog posts on it for 10-20$ each.
Beyond the possibility of getting .EDU backlinks to your site you could register a blog for 25$/month and sell blog post for 5$ each. By selling 10 posts a day this would be a revenue of 1500-25 = 1475$ each month.
Of course it easier to sell blog post on an .EDU blog if it has a nice PageRank (at least 4) so you will have to spend some time and maybe some money in the blog first.
This is a new method I discovered recently to make some really good money. Maybe I will give it a try in the future and let you know how it goes.

I think that this is very interesting about .edu sites. I have been looking for ways to link to them, but I haven’t found out how to be able to do it. Thanks for the help. I wish people would take .edu sites more seriously.

If your looking for a fast way to get them, search google for forums such as phpbb with a .edu.. It’s a bit dirty, but it works.
