There has been talk on the Internet about the cons of using directory submission services. Not too sure if this is true or not but I personally don’t use those free submission services as it forces you to subscribe to their newsletters..

I did not know that you are forced to subscribe to their newsletter once you use a submission service…Anyway you could always mark their newsletter as “spam” in your email filter

I’ve been using Directory Submitter (free software) for a while now and submitting my sites to 2-3 high pr directories daily. Using it can speed up the process rather than doing it manually.

Just FYI,

I did a whole bunch of these services..

My results were (roughly):

For every 150 submissions: received about 20 inbound links/directory listings.

If the price works for you, that’s what you should expect. And the 20 links definitely helped for SEO.

I have used this service, and submitted my site to the 600 directories on their list. I actually managed to get some 240 links over a period of 4 months, which was absolutely fine by me considering the price I paid for it.
And ya, they don’t send out newsletters. The only stuff I receive from them once in every 45-60 days is an update that tells me they have added new directories, which btw gives me the option to unsubscribe from.

All depends if it is a good service and the guarantie, is not the same the submission than the aprobation of the submission

Not a good idea because the anchor text will be the same for all your directory listings. Better to just take the time to do it yourself so you can ensure it’s a quality directory and vary your anchor text.
