Two weeks ago I described a technique that will get you on the first page of Google’s search results for a chosen keywords. I wrote about this article on DigitalPoin Forums and it gained a lot of success as you can see here (more than 700 webmasters read this article and it recieved only positive feedbacks). Today I want to add some more and very new tips that will help a website to archieve a top position.
These tips come from a german SEO Company called Sistrix that made a huge research on over 10.000 random keywords and for every keyword, they analyzed the top 100 search results (that’s a total of 1.000.000 analyzed pages…amazing).
I will summarize the results of this research so that everyone can benefit from these (the original article is very long and in german language).
1 ) For ranking high in Google search results, keywords in the “title tag” seem to be very important. The same keywords have to be mentioned in the “body tag” although the “title tag” seems to be much more important.
2 ) Keywords in H2,H3,H4,H5,H6 headline tags seem to have an influence on search engine rankings while keywords in a H1 headline tag don’t have an effect on the rankings (this is something I did ot know before).
3 ) Also “bold” or “strong” written keywords seem to have a slight effect on rankings.
4 ) Websites that used their targeted keyword also as the name of images and as Alt-text of an image, ranked higher than websites that gave their images random names and random Alt-text.
5 ) Websites that have a keyword inside the domain name usually rank higher than websites that don’t include keywords in the domain name.
6 ) The file size of a website seems to influence the rankings. Websites with a smaller file size tend to rank higher than “heavy” websites.
7 ) Web pages that use only a few parameters in their url’s (something like id?=abc) seem to rank higher than websites using a lot of parameters.
8 ) Inbound links and Pagerank of course, have a big influence on search engine rankings. An interesting statistic is that the first page for a given keyword has 4 times as many links as result number 11 (the first result on the second page)
I was really surprised by point number 2-6 and 7. I never thought that such small details could influence the Google search engine ranking of a website.
I will try those tips that I haven’t tried yet and let’s see if I finally succeed in getting position number one for “SEO Friendly Web Directory” (I’m ranking second since 1 month
).

Some tips seems to be in contrast to what I have learned, I guess I need to try this out if I can outrank my competitors in Google.
good to know - its right in line with what I already do.
