The “Anchor Text “is really important for the search engine rankings. If you submit your website to a free directory or if you make a reciprocal link exchange with another website, make sure that your “back link” will not only be the URL of your site but choose some words as your anchor text.To get high rankings in the search engines you should choose specific keywords and not keywords that are used already by a lot of other websites. Anyway you can try to get high rankings even by choosing more general ones; here are some tips on how you can do that:
1) Your anchor text should be contained in the:
- Keywords
- Title tag
- Description
2) Another great think would be if you have at least 1 of your anchor text keywords included in you domain name
3) The anchor text should be included in the first sentence of the website.
The best thing to do to get high rankings is optimize every single page of your website; that means that you should have different META TAGS for every single page (different title, keywords, description)Let’s make a summary of these tips trough an example: if you write an article about “Search engine rankings” and you want to promote this article, you have to:
- put “Search engine rankings” in the keywords, title tag and description of the site
- make sure that the first phrase of your article contains these words
- make an URL like this www.yoursite.com/Search-engine-rankings.html for your article (an URL like this: www.yoursite.com/article.php?=23 would not be very useful)
- link the article to your highest Google page rank site with “Search engine rankings” as anchor text
- try to get some external links pointing to your article with “Search engine rankings” as anchor text
